Individual:I provide individual treatment to cancer patients and their families helping them cope with cancer related problems at any stage of diagnosis, illness, treatment and recovery. Most cancer patients face fear, loss of control, grief, hopelessness, fear of death and many other very difficult emotions. They often feel isolated, and do not wish to burden those they love with their most private suffering.
Cancer treatments are very difficult and have cognitive and emotional effects that are often unaddressed by medical professionals. In our work together we will attempt to transform difficult emotions into something bearable and useful to growth.
We will focus on living successfully with cancer and improve your quality of life regardless of the stage of illness to help you in your path to recovery. We will work on increasing your ability to cope with cancer, improve symptom management and bare difficulty of cancer treatment side effects.
Caretakers: I work with care takers of cancer patients helping them deal with the sense of loss, hopelessness, lack of control, sadness, fear and other unbearable affect they face in daily struggle of being taking care of loved ones who are suffering.
I work with patients who are undergoing treatment or recovering from: Leukemia (ALL, AML), lymphoma, prostate cancer, Colo-Rectal cancer, Anal Cancer, Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer and others.
Please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org call 415-637-2895 if you need additional information.
Home Visits: I am open to discussing home visits for appropriate patients who might have difficulties due to treatment side-effects or other illness related mobility problems.
Group Support:Group support provides an environment of care and emotional support where members can exchange information and experiences with others. This process strengthens members' knowledge and resolve leading to feeling of empowerment and hope. In this way members can improve their outlook, response to treatment, and symptom management.
I facilitate the support groups listed below for the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. These UCSF funded groups are free and open to the public. Both patients and their spouses or partners are welcome. Please call me at 415-637-2895 or email me Vittorio.Comelli@ucsf.edu for more information.
